AGBU DISCOVERS TALENTS

ATTENTION TO MUSICIANS!

In the frame of the collaboration started in 2018, the Performing Arts Department of AGBU France and AGBU Armenia are willing to renew the program “AGBU discovers talents”, in collaboration with “Musicians for Musicians” founded by Sevak Avanesyan and the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra (ANPO).
It will be held in Yerevan, from the 17th to the 20th of October.

This program is divided into 2 phases:
AGBU DISCOVERS TALENTS
This program, held over 3 days, will have 2 axes:
a. CONTEST
When: from the 17th to the 18th of October.
Where: AGBU Armenia Hall, Yerevan
Who: string instrumentalists (violinists, violists, cellists and double bass players).

Divided in 4 age categories, all string instruments together:

✅ Category 1: up to 10-year-old

✅ Category 2: 11-15-year-old

✅ Category 3: 16-20-year-old

✅ Category 4: 21-25-year-old

Price:
- One “Grand Prix” per category will be attributed:

✅ Category 1: 75 $

✅ Category 2: 100 $

✅ Category 3: 175 $

✅ Category 4: 250 $

- The “ANPO Price”
Opportunity to play as a soloist during the concert with ANPO. Concert held on November 22nd, 2019.

b. INSTRUMENT LOAN COMPETITION from the AGBU France Bank Instrument
When: October 19th
Where: AGBU Armenia Hall, Yerevan
Who: string instrumentalists selected according to artistic and social criterias
Social criterias will be defined according parents’ income and selected by AGBU.
Applicants will be able to apply to both programs (competition and instrument loan) but they’ll have to be selected in the Competition to apply to the Instrument Loan.

THE PROGRAM
Loan: from the new PAD France Bank Instrument.
The Bank Instrument is composed by 5 violins and 5 cellos of good quality.
How: recipients selected by an international jury after the performance of the movement of a concerto
or a characteristic piece for soloist and orchestra to the jury.

THE JURY

The Jury will be composed of professionals of music, performing arts, musicians and representatives of partner structures.
Will be represented in the Jury:

✅ Eduard Topchjan, Artistic Director of the Armenian National Philarmonic Orchestra

✅ Nadia Gortzounian, President of AGBU France

✅ Karmen Tosunyan, Principal Concertmaster at Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra

✅ Hrachya Avanesyan, Violonist

✅ Sevak Avanesyan, Artist and Founder of Musicians for Musicians association

✅ Christian Erbslöh-Papazian, Director of AGBU France Performing Art Department

✅ Andrei Gridchuk, Solo viola at Berlin Opera

✅ Aram Talalyan, Cellist and conductor

✅ Ursula Von Lerber, Pianist, Sibelius Academy, Paris Conservatory, Bloomington Academy

✅ Lilit Kurdyan, The Juilliard School 

The chair of the jury will be the director of the AGBU France PAD. The honoray chair of the jury will be the artistic director of the Armenian National Philarmonic Orchestra (ANPO).
