“Hello, Saroyan...” joint initiative of the AGBU YP Yerevan group and Renaissance Cultural and Intellectual Foundation kicked off at AGBU YP's first Grqabats room

“Hello, Saroyan…” joint project of the AGBU Yerevan Young Professionals’ (YP) “Grqabats” initiative and Renaissance Cultural and Intellectual Foundation’s “Saroyan House” project kicked off at AGBU YP's first Grqabats room on February 3.

Cooperation with Renaissance Cultural and Intellectual Foundation initiated because it is the only foundation maintaining and disseminating Saroyan’s inheritance.

A three-month series of book readings, games and theatrical performances designed to mark the 110th anniversary of the world-famous giant of the American literature and American-Armenian writer William Saroyan will help the schoolchildren to familiarize with the rich literary inheritance of the great writer.

“We thought the matter over and over again and decided to uncover the Saroyan phenomenon. This project was designed to propagate reading and discover Saroyan” noted Haykaz Nahapetyan, AGBU YP Yerevan group member.

“We will meet at school N196 after Ashot Navasardyan every Saturday at AGBU YP’s first “Grqabats” room. There we will offer the students an opportunity of choosing any book by Saroyan. The writer will be presented with his multiple facets – Saroyan the writer, Saroyan the dramatist, Saroyan the scriptwriter, Saroyan the painter, Saroyan the playwright…” added Inga Vardanyan, Chair of AGBU YP Yerevan group.

At the end of the project, school students will put on a theatrical performance dedicated to William Saroyan and will share their impressions of the writer, and generally, of what they learnt from this three-month project.
