MEMBERS OF THE AGBU YEREVAN SCOUT MOVEMENT HELP

In November 2010, members of the AGBU Yerevan Scout group initiated a charitable project to help the children of the Gyumri F. Nansen orphanage and of poor and needy families living in Gyumri. Together with “Noyemi” NGO and “Fridtjof Nansen” foundation of Armenia the AGBU scouts announced a charitable gift drive to collect clothes, shoes and toys for the Gyumri children. Through AGBU’s worldwide network representatives of the Armenian community of USA and Syria also participated in the gift drive.

EDUARD MELKONIAN’S “AGBU HISTORY” PUBLISHED IN RUSSIAN

In October 2010, with the support of the Armenian General Benevolent Union’s Central Board of Directors, Senior Researcher of the Institute of History of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, PhD, Eduard Melkonian’s “Armenian General Benevolent Union: Continuous History” was published in Russian at the “Tigran Mets” printing house in Yerevan. This edition is a translation of Melkonian’s “AGBU History” book published in Yerevan in 2005.

HELPING THE CHILDREN OF THE GYUMRI F. NANSEN ORPHANAGE

A fundraising evening to help the children of the Gyumri F. Nansen orphanage was organized recently at the initiative of Dr. Chuck Hajinian and with the participation of representatives of the Armenian community of Wisconsin and AGBU friends. Pillows, sheets and other bed clothing for the orphanage children were purchased with 6,000 USD raised during the evening by about 60 guests, who committed themselves to continuing the fundraising event in favor of the Homeland.

THE JOINT INITIATIVE OF AGBU YP YEREVAN AND ARMENIAN BLOGGERS IN KARABAKH

AGBU YP Yerevan and Armenian bloggers joint initiative began in Autumn 2010. The main goal of the program was to provide literature to the schools and libraries of Artsakh. Phase 1 of the project was successfully implemented in the public library of the town of Karvatjar and the schools of Nor Verin Shen and Yeghegnut villages. Previously announced fundraising and book collection raised 300,000 AMD and 1300 books.
