The AGBU Armenian Virtual College (AVC) continues to actively expand its presence throughout the world. AVC and AGBU Cairo introduced AVC’s Armenian online education into Egypt at an introductory session for community members. AVC Liaison in Egypt Mrs. Anna Dolabjian and AGBU Cairo’s AVC Representative Dr. Arpi Khatcherian, presented the details on September 21 at the filled-to-capacity AGBU Cairo Chaker Cultural Center in Heliopolis. The event was attended by His Grace Bishop Krikor Augustinos Kousa, Primate of the Armenian Catholic Church in Egypt, His Excellency Dr. Armen Melkonian, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Egypt, AGBU Cairo Chairman Dr. Viken Djizmedjian, Honorary Chairman of AGBU Cairo Berdj Terzian, as well as many Armenians and non-Armenians. AGBU Cairo Chairman Dr. Viken Djizmedjian kicked off the evening, welcoming the audience and emphasizing the significance of this project for AGBU Cairo which, among its many other objectives, endeavors to always spread the Armenian culture and language among Cairo’s community members. Mrs. Dolabjian presented an in-depth look at AVC, its mission, objectives and explained the different options available to benefit from these courses. Dr. Khatcherian continued the presentation, explaining how to use the website and how to register for courses. AVC AGBU Founding President Dr. Yervant Zorian’s video Greetings were presented. After responding to audience questions, the evening concluded with the encouraging words of Mr. Berdj Terzian, Honorary Chairman of AGBU Cairo and Chairman of AGBU Egypt followed by Ambassador Melkonian. It was highlighted during the presentation that, in addition to the Armenian language, history and culture courses that AVC offers, chess classes were recently added to AVC’s portfolio. All courses are offered in multiple languages and at multiple skill levels. Apart from the special 25% discount granted by AVC for all subscriptions from Egypt, AGBU Cairo is offering an additional 50% discount for Egyptian-Armenians who submit a request to AGBU Cairo.
