PAYING TRIBUTE TO THE MARTYRS OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

By Hagop Mikayelian; writer, publicist

It was the 24th of April. The human river was flowing towards the Genocide Memorial at Tsitsernakaberd. They were pilgrims who came to pay tribute to the martyrs of 1915. They were not in black, they were not mourning, they lined up to lay flowers at the eternal flame with the promise and a determination to remember and demand.

Among the tens of thousands of the pilgrims were AGBU’s proud scouts holding Armenia’s and AGBU’s flags and slowly marching towards the memorial. AGBU Armenia and AGBU Europe leadership, and a group of AGBU Young Professionals from European countries led the march. They surrounded the flame, prayed silently and made the oath to continue the struggle till justice is served to the Armenian people.

For more than a century, AGBU continues to shape loyal, dedicated and educated generations, inspiring them to keep walking on the path that its founders had paved for them and for the welfare and benefit of all Armenians.
