The Armenian Virtual College (AVC) is a new venture that aims to provide Armenians throughout the world with a state-of-the-art online Armenian curriculum, regardless of age, country of residence, or knowledge level. Thanks to advancements in technology, AVC allows students to learn new material at their own pace through the Internet, as well as meet with tutors and classmates during specific online office hours. In addition to weekly online lectures, students have access to multimedia study tools, games, assignments, course calendars, syllabi, quizzes, and grade books. Moreover, discussion forums and live chat features allow for better communication among students, often leading to new friendships with Armenians from across the globe.

AVC is currently comprised of three departments - Language, History and Culture - each offering 4 courses at varying skill levels. In order to truly accomplish AGBU's goal of offering greater access to Armenian education, instruction has been made available in six languages: Armenian (Eastern & Western), English, French, Russian, and Spanish. Students can choose to earn credits for each course that they complete, ultimately leading to a diploma from AVC, or they can also transfer credits from AVC courses to various universities around the world.

Having been launched in June 2009, the AVC has become the first Armenian online university, with a distinct goal to make Armenian education available to everyone and everywhere through modern technologies. During the one year of its activities the Armenian Virtual College has had four academic terms and more than 500 students from 35 countries of the world including USA, Russia and France, as well as Venezuela, South Africa and Reunion Island.
