5TH PAN-ARMENIAN GAMES HELD IN ARMENIA

The 5th pan-Armenian games, under the slogan of “Unity through sport”, were held on August 13-21 in Armenia. For that period Armenia was home to more than 3200 sportsmen from 30 countries, who competed in 10 categories. The opening ceremony of the games took place on August 13th at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium with the participation of RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, NKR President Bako Sahakyan, other state officials and guests. The closing ceremony was held at Freedom Square. RA President Serzh Sargsyan presented the winners of the tournaments with medals. Stepan Ter-Petrossian (Lebanon), Vice President of the World Committee of the Pan-Armenian Games and Hermine Duzian (France), member of the Games’ executive committee and AGBU Diaspora Youth Programs Coordinator in Armenia, also received Medals of Honor of the Pan-Armenian Games World Committee from the hands of President Sargsyan. AGBU-AYA teams also actively participated in the 5th Pan-Armenian Games. On August 22nd, they paid a visit to the AGBU Armenian Representation and got acquainted with the Union’s programs in Armenia and Artsakh, and the activities of the Union’s newest learning institute, the Armenian Virtual College.
