Hranoush Hakobian, Minister of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, received the AGBU delegation headed by AGBU President Berge Setrakian on April 1. Also present at the meeting were AGBU Council of Trustees member Nazar Nazarian, AGBU Central Board members Garnik Yacoubian and Vasken Yacoubian, AGBU Armenian Representation Director Ashot Ghazarian, President of the United Armenian Fund and Vice-Chairman of the Lincy Foundation Harut Sassounian, Editor-in-Chief of “Azg” daily Hakob Avedikian and others.

Issues related to Armenia-Diaspora coope-ration and implementation of joint projects were discussed during the meeting. The sides also spoke about the Armenian schools of the Diaspora, the number of students, the quality of education, the necessity of opening Sunday schools, and the encouragement of Diaspora students to study in higher educational institutions in Armenia. The Minister emphasized the importance of improving the conditions of the Diaspora schools and effectively using the European financial assistance for that purpose.

The importance of discovering young Diasporan talents, specifically in the sphere of art and culture, helping them make their way in their field and become well-known to the world was another issue discussed during the meeting of the Diaspora Minister and the AGBU delegation.
