AGBU-AYA “KOMITAS” CHAMBER ORCHESTRA OF ALEPPO ON TOUR IN ARMENIA

Armenian General Benevolent Union’s “Komitas” chamber orchestra of Aleppo was on tour in Armenia from May 3-10 at the invitation of “Fridtjof Nansen” fund of Armenia. The orchestra consists of young Aleppo-Armenian musicians aged 18-25.

On May 4, the orchestra performed in the hall of the St. Gregory of Narek Church of Vanadzor. Bishop Sepouh Chouljian, Primate of the Diocese of Gougark, made a speech after the concert and thanked the organizers and the members of the orchestra for presenting and spreading Armenian culture in the Diaspora.

On May 5, the orchestra gave another concert in the hall of the Yerevan State University. AGBU-AYA “Komitas” chamber orchestra of Aleppo also performed in Gyumri and Goris.

The concert program included the works of Komitas, Aram Khachatrian, Vivaldi, Schubert, and other prominent Armenian and international composers. The concerts were attended by many intellectuals, clergymen, artists and students.
