2010 GRADUATES OF AGBU ALEX AND MARIE MANOOGIAN HIGH SCHOOL OF DETROIT IN ARMENIA

The final year students of the Armenian General Benevolent Union’s Alex and Marie Manoogian School of Detroit, headed by school principal Hosep Torossian, and teacher of Armenian language, literature and history Anahit Toumajian, visited Armenia on May 5-13.

During their stay in Armenia the students visited Erebuni museum, Holy See of St. Etchmiadzin, Garni temple, Lake Sevan, Geghard Monastery, Tsaghkadzor, Sardarapat, Aragats, Ambert, laid flowers on the tomb of Mesrop Mashtots in Oshakan, paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide in Tsitsernakabert and took a tour in the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute.

On May 6, the group was received by the RA Deputy Diaspora Minister Stepan Petrosian, who introduced the activities of the Ministry, spoke about “One Nation, One Culture” festival, “Come Home” project, as well as the government privileges for the Diaspora Armenians wishing to receive university degrees in their homeland. Principal Hosep Tor-ossian made a brief introduction of the history of the school.

On May 9, the students of the AGBU Manoogian High School visited Yerablur to honor the memory of those killed during the Artsakh war. The group also visited the AGBU Armenian Representation, got acquainted with the activities of the AGBU Armenian Virtual College, attended the performance of the children of the AGBU and Holy See of St. Etchmiadzin Youth Centers. The students’ trip to Armenia was organized by children’s writer and head of “Barev Tun” organization Zabel Berberian.
