During his visit to Armenia in the fall of 2007, AGBU President Berge Setrakian, with the support of the AGBU Central Board of Directors, began to organize the first scout camp in Armenia. For that purpose, AGBU purchased campgrounds in the beautiful Lori region, near the village of Lermontovo. In 2008, three hundred scouts from across the Middle East, including Aleppo, Baghdad, Beirut, Damascus, Qamishly and Tehran, joined the newly established AGBU scout troop in Armenia for two summer sessions, during which lifelong bonds were forged among these adventurous Armenian youth. In addition to educational and social activities organized in the camp, scouts are taken on field trips to visit historic landmarks. Beginning in 2009, Antranik Camp plans to welcome scouts from further afield, including the Americas.
