AGBU YEREVAN SCOUTS HELPING FAMILIES IN NEED IN GYUMRI

One of the principles of Armenian scouts states: a scout always helps others. Bearing this in mind, AGBU Yerevan scouts regularly organize charity visits to Gyumri to help local families in need. The cold winter and upcoming Christmas holidays were another occasion for the scouts to initiate such a visit to Armenia’s second largest city. Clothes, food and toys were collected by the members of the scout movement and taken to Gyumri on December 13th.

The consequences of the terrible earthquake, unfortunately, still evident in Gyumri, 27 years later with most of the 70 families visited by the scouts still living in temporary housing “domiks”. Packages of wheat, sugar, oil, rice and pasta were distributed to the families carefully prepared by the scouts.

AGBU scouts vow to continue their charity visits to Gyumri as long as the city still has families in need.
