MASTERCLASS FOR FILM MAKERS BY TERRY GEORGE AND ERIC ESRAILIAN

The Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) and Creative Armenia will host a Masterclass by Academy Award Winning Director Terry George, (The Promise, Hotel Rwanda). Dr. Eric Esrailian, Producer of The Promise and Intent to Destroy films will be the special guest of the event. Terry George and Eric Esrailian will be in Armenia by AGBU's invitation and happily agreed to share their knowledge and experience with talented filmmakers of Armenia.

The masterclass will be moderated by Garin Hovannisian, founding director of Creative Armenia and co-writer/director of 1915 The Movie.

"WE PROMISE" MUSICAL TRIBUTE

AGBU Armenia is honored to premiere the “We Promise” musical tribute inspired by the film “The Promise”. The live performance will take place on September 22, 20:00, at A. Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet in Yerevan.

Honorary guests of the evening are “The Promise” film’s Academy Award-winning Director Terry George and Producer Dr. Eric Esrailian.

AGBU ARMENIA AND ARTBEEP TO HOLD “THREE COLOURS” ART EXHIBITION

AGBU Armenia and Artbeep cordially invite you to the opening reception of the “Three Colours” Art Exhibition, organized as a tribute to the colouristic tradition of Armenian art. Three colours of the Armenian flag – red, blue and orange - emblematise the Armenian nature and at least one of them can be found in every painting exhibited.

The participating artists belong to different generations, but each of them has developed their own idea of capturing the colours of the world around them.

DISTANT FRAGMENTS - PHOTO EXHIBITION | GASPAR GASPARIAN

GASPAR GASPARIAN, Born in São Paulo, Brazil (1899–1966) Distant Fragments, a retrospective of the modernist Brazilian photographer at AGBU Armenia, curated by Ruben Arevshatyan.

The exhibition of Gaspar Gasparian in Yerevan in the context of STANDART Triennial of Contemporary Art will be the first encounter of the Armenian public with one of the most outstanding artists of the 20th century of Armenian origin whose impact on the development of modern Brazilian art of photography is invaluable.

TOM McSORLEY (Film Critic, Canada)
Subject: “Contemporary Canadian Cinema”

Tom McSorley is executive director of the Canadian Film Institute in Ottawa. He also teaches in the Film Studies department at Carleton University, and is CBC Radio One's weekly film critic on the Ottawa Morning program. He has published extensively on Canadian and international cinema, and is the author of Atom Egoyan’s The Adjuster, a book length study of Egoyan's 1991 film.

MASTER CLASS WITH CIRO GUERRA

CIRO GUERRA (Film Director, Colombia)

Ciro Guerra was born in Cesar, Colombia, in 1981. He studied film and television at the National University of Colombia. At the age of 21, after directing four multi-award winning short films, he wrote and directed The Wandering Shadows, his feature directorial debut, which won awards at the San Sebastian, Toulouse, Mar del Plata, Trieste, Havana, Quito, Cartagena, Santiago and Warsaw IFFs, and was selected for 60 more, including Tribeca, Locarno, Seoul, Pesaro, Seattle, Hamburg, Kolkata, Rio de Janeirօ, Istanbul and Guadalajara.

His second feature film The Wind Journeys was part of the Official Selection – un Certain Regard of the Cannes FF in 2009. It was released in 17 countries and selected in 90 festivals, including Toronto, Rotterdam, San Sebastian, Hong Kong, Jerusalem and London, receiving different awards in Cannes, Santa Barbara, Malaga, Santiago, Bogota and Cartagena.
