"RENAISSANCE" THIRD INTERNATIONAL CONTEST-FESTIVAL OF MUSICIAN PERFORMERS Reportage on "Yerkir Media" TV Channel

On May 5-13th, the Vartan Atjemian Drama Theater of Gyumri hosted the “Renaissance” 3rd International Contest-Festival of Musician-Performers held under the high patronage of the First Lady of the Republic of Armenia Mrs. Rita Sargsyan. The organizers of the festival-contest are RA Culture Ministry, RA Diaspora Ministry, “Pyunik” All-Armenian Fund for Human Resources Development and the Gyumri branch of the Yerevan State Conservatory (YSC). “Renaissance” is held with the sponsorship and financial support of VivaCell-MTS, “South-Caucasian Railways” JSC, Electric Networks of Armenia, and Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU).

AGBU MONTEVIDEO “GROONG” CHOIR’S “TO THE HOMELAND” CONCERTS IN ARMENIA

Upon the initiative of the Diaspora Ministry of the Republic of Armenia and Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), “Groong” choir of AGBU Montevideo, Uruguay, gave two unforgettable concerts in Armenia, as the start of the series of concerts dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence. Established in 1993, “Groong” choir is headed by Maestro Alvaro Hakobian, who is also the principal conductor of the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra. After touring South American cities with substantial Armenian populations, the choir headed to Armenia for their first-ever performance in the Homeland.

AGBU CONTINUES ITS SUPPORT OF THE FRENCH UNIVERSITY IN ARMENIA Reportage on SHANT TV

The official ceremony, granting scholarship certificates to the 22 best students of the French University in Armenia (UFAR) by the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), took place at the French University on March 9th. This year the total amount of AGBU’s financial support to the University was 30,000 USD. AGBU and UFAR have been cooperating in a number of projects since 2004. Starting in 2007, within the framework of this cooperation, AGBU has supported the University in covering the tuition expenses for a select number of students.

AGBU PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO ARMENIA Berge Setrakian receives an official Republic of Armenia passport

President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), Berge Setrakian, paid a visit to Yerevan, Armenia, from January 27-30. As part of his visit Mr. Setrakian had meetings with RA President Serzh Sargsyan, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, as well as various educational and cultural figures. He also got acquainted with the current process of implementation of the Union’s programs in Armenia. On January 29, the AGBU President was received by RA President Serzh Sargsyan, who presented Mr. Setrakian with an official Republic of Armenia passport.
