“TUMO” CENTER FOR CREATIVE TECHNOLOGIES OPENS IN YEREVAN 05/09/2011

“TUMO” center for creative technologies officially opened to the public on August 14th at Yerevan’s Ajapnyak district. Present at the opening ceremony were Presidents of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh Serzh Sargsyan and Bako Sahakian, Mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetian, other ministers and officials. Founded by AGBU Central Board Member Sam Simonian and his wife, Sylva, TUMO is designed to introduce students, ages 12 to 18, to a professional level of instruction in animation, web development, video game design, and digital video/audio through extensive after-school programs. Sam Simonian is also the founder of “Simonian Educational Foundation” and US-based “Epygi Labs AM” company.

FAF AND AGBU ANNOUNCE THE LAUNCH OF NUR PLAN IN NKR Reportage on Shant TV

Fruitful Armenian Fund and Armenian General Benevolent Union proudly announce the launch of NUR Plan in the Nagorno Karabagh Republic (NKR). Press conferences on this occasion were organized in Stepanakert on August 15 and Yerevan on August 16. Following the agreement signed last January between NKR Prime Minister Ara Harutyunyan and Mr. Eduardo Eurnekian, FAF is presenting today the general concept of NUR, a plan aimed at changing the future of the educational system.

THE FINAL ROUND OF THE AGBU-FUNDED 5TH REPUBLICAN INTERSCHOOL CHESS TOURNAMENT HELD IN DILIJAN

The final round of the AGBU-sponsored 5th Republican Interschool Chess Tournament was held on May 6-8th, 2011, in the city of Dilijan in Armenia's Tavush region with three winning teams from Yerevan, two from Shirak, Lori and Tavush regions, and one from Artsakh, Javakhk and each of the other seven regions of Armenia. The 5th republican interschool chess tournament started in the fall of 2010. Present at the championship match were Vice President of the RA Chess federation Smbat Lputyan, AGBU Board of Trustees member Karnig Yacoubian, AGBU Armenian Representation Director Ashot Ghazarian, Rector of the YSU Aram Simonian, Governor of Tavush region Armen Ghularian, other officials.
