RAFFI OHANYAN WINNER OF SHANT TV’S “HAY SUPERSTAR 4” PAN-ARMENIAN PROJECT

Every year Armenia’s “Shant” TV organizes the “Hay Superstar” contest, to reveal young Armenian talents. The fourth season of the “Hay Superstar” this year brought to Armenia young and gifted Armenians from all over the world. Raffi Ohanyan was born in Aleppo, attended the AGBU Najarian-Gulbenkian secondary school. He lives in Yerevan and studies in the European Regional University of Yerevan majoring in computer sciences. Raffi is also an active member of the AGBU Yerevan Scout Movement and the Scout Council. The “Hay Superstar 4” pan-Armenian contest finals took place on March 14 and revealed the name of the winner Raffi Ohanyan – making him the first male “Hay Superstar”.

AGBU YP YEREVAN STEERING COMMITTEE & YEREVAN SCOUT COUNCIL MET WITH AGBU CENTRAL BOARD MEMBER VASKEN YACOUBIAN

On February 19, the AGBU YP Yerevan Steering Committee and the AGBU Yerevan Scout Council met with AGBU Central Board member Vasken Yacoubian, AGBU Armenian Representation Director Ashot Ghazarian and Deputy Director Hovig Eordekian. During the meeting they talked about the possibilities of expanding the YP rows and the fields of their activities, especially in the regions of Armenia. V. Yacoubian emphasized the importance of activating the works on both fronts, strengthening the ties between the two youth structures and organizing joint events.

DONATION TO THE AGMI FROM AGBU YOUNG PROFESSIONALS OF LOS ANGELES

Every year the collection of the Armenian Genocide Museum is enriched with unique materials that greatly promote the research on Armenian Genocide. Donation made by “AGBU Young Professionals of Los Angeles” to the AGMI in 2009 enriched the museum collection with unique materials.The museum obtained about 150 valuable museum items, including 75 volumes of rare books, hundreds of rare magazines and newspapers, original photos, postcards, medals, stamps, as well as a unique collection of original photos depicting Armenian cultural monuments. The Armenian Genocide Museum expresses its deepest gratitude to the AGBU Young Professionals of Los Angeles for their honest and patriotic step.

AGBU ARMENIA SCOUT COUNCIL HOLDS A SEMINAR IN TSAGHKADZOR

On October 24-25, with the support of the AGBU Armenian Representation, the AGBU Armenia Scout Council held a scout seminar in Tsaghkadzor. The goal of the seminar was to share their scout knowledge with all the participants and develop methods, which would help recruit new scout members, as well as discuss other important issues. By the end of the day the future scout leaders together with Hermine Duzian, AGBU Diaspora Youth Projects Coordinator in Armenia, also joined the seminar participants. Guest speaker Hovig Eordekian, AGBU Armenian Representation deputy director, delivered a lecture about the historic past and present relations between the AGBU and Armenia.
