AS PART OF AGBU 110 CELEBRATION WEEK, AGBU ARMENIA HOSTED AGBUTALKS WITH PRIME MINISTER KAREN KARAPETYAN ON ARMENIA’S LONG-TERM SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

 

 

As part of AGBU 110 celebration week, on December 3, 2016, AGBU Armenia hosted AGBUtalks - a live discussion with RA Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan covering his vision for Armenia’s long-term social and economic development. Prior to the meeting, Prime Minister Karapetyan visited AGBU Armenia Headquarters and toured the offices of AGBU Armenia, IDEA Foundation, Luys Foundation, and Impact Hub Yerevan. He got acquainted with current and upcoming programs of the organizations, welcomed new initiatives and wished them good luck.

AGBUtalkswith Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan “Reshaping Armenia and Engaging the Diaspora through Unity and Shared Responsibility” intended to open a channel for a constructive conversation, so that we - in Armenia, Artsakh, and the Diaspora - may set, implement, and evaluate our objectives together, bearing in mind our shared responsibility.

AGBU PRESIDENT’S VISIT TO CENTRAL MILITARY HOSPITAL OF THE MINISTRY OF DEFENCE SUMMARIZED THE RESULTS OF THE "HELP ARTSAKH" CAMPAIGN

 

Yerevan, December 5, 2016 - AGBU President Berge Setrakian and AGBU Armenia President and AGBU Central Board Member Vasken Yacoubian visited the Central Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia. They talked to the servicemen undergoing treatment in the reanimation ward and acquainted themselves with their recovery process. The aim of the visit was to summarize the results of the "Help Artsakh" campaign and to test the newly received medical equipment.

AGBU OPENS A NEW MEDICAL CENTER AS PART OF ITS SYRIAN ARMENIAN RELIEF PROGRAM

 

 

On December 5, 2016, the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Armenia opened the Claudia Nazarian Medical Center at the AGBU Vahe Karapetian Center. The new health facility is part of AGBU’s “Syrian Armenian Relief” program, and offers Syrian Armenians access to medical consultation services free of charge. The Center adds to the AGBU Armenia’s humanitarian mission and will provide gynecological, cardiological, ophthalmological, and pediatric services. AGBU president Berge Setrakian, AGBU Armenia President and AGBU Central Board Member Vasken Yacoubian, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, representatives of CSOs, and many guests of AGBU came to inaugurate the official opening of the medical center and to hand the recognition awards to 7 Syrian-Armenian doctors who has been working voluntarily for three years and will continue to work in the new health facility. Director of “Syrian-Armenian Relief Coordination Center” NGO Lena Halajian and long-term dedicated member Aroush Yessayan were awarded for their unwavering commitment. From the onset, AGBU Armenia has played a leading role in the Syrian Armenian relief effort, opening its doors to all Syrian Armenian families and conducting one-on-one consultations to assess their needs.

AGBU YEREVAN HOSTED INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON GENDER AND POST- GENOCIDE, ART-EXHIBITION “MAPPING IDENTITY: FIGURES, BORDERS, AND NATIONS”

 

AGBU Armenia hosted a three-day international conference “After Genocide: From Trauma to Rebirth, a Gendered Perspective” on Saturday, September 17 - September 19, at AGBU Armenia Hall. A press conference announcing the launch of the multidisciplinary international conference took place at AGBU Armenia on September 16. Carol Mann, Director of Women in War, Talar Kazanjian, Executive Director of AGBU Armenia, Dr. Pavel Avetisyan, Director of Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography in Yerevan, etc.

GRAND OPENING OF SHOUSHI DORMITORY COMPLEX

 

On September 2, 2016, in the framework of the events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Artsakh independence, the grand opening ceremony of Shushi dormitory complex took place in NKR. The dormitory complex is equipped with high-end equipment and technology to serve the needs of students and the faculty of Shoushi Technology Institute, Shoushi branch of Agrarian University and "Yeznik Mozyan” vocational school. The dormitory complex was renovated thanks to the generous donation of AGBU benefactors Levon and Arthur Nazarian, Lebanon, in memory of their parents, national benefactors Garbis and Areg Nazarians.
