EVENTS IN TURKEY TO COMMEMORATE THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

For 95 years no events commemorating the Armenian Genocide were organized in Turkey. Everything changed in 2010 when an event honoring the innocent victims of the Armenian Genocide was organized at Istanbul’s Taksim Square. In recent years, AGBU Europe has supported the organization and realization of the commemorative events of the Armenian Genocide in Turkey initiated by EGAM (European Grassroots Antiracist Movement) from France, Turkish DurDe! (Say Stop to Racism and Nationalism) and IHD, a Turkish Human Rights Association. For the third consecutive year, following the commemorative events organized in Turkey on April 24, an international delegation of the representatives of these organizations also visit Armenia with the support of AGBU Europe with the aim of sharing their impressions and programs, meeting with the representatives of civil society, members of the NGOs dealing with Armenian-Turkish relations, as well as visit the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial of the Armenian Genocide.
