AGBU SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD VISIT ARMENIA

It has become a tradition for AGBU schools from around the world to send their graduating students to the Homeland every year. As part of this program, Armenia hosted three different AGBU school students in June-July, 2014; students and chaperons from AGBU Vatche and Tamar Manoukian School and AGBU Manoogian-Demirjian School of California, USA, as well as AGBU Marie Manoogian School of Buenos Aires, Argentina. For many of these students this was their first time visiting the land of their ancestors and the first chance to see, with their own eyes, everything that they had learned about Armenia at school and from their families. The students are usually accompanied by their teachers or principals and the two weeks spent in Armenia are usually filled with sightseeing, interacting with their peers, attending cultural events and getting acquainted with AGBU programs carried out in Armenia. This year’s memorable initiatives included a visit to the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies and a friendly basketball match with the Tumo students, as well as planting trees in Sardarapat together with the Armenia Tree Project. The groups also visited the AGBU and Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin Youth Centers and enjoyed the concert program prepared by the Youth Center students. This year, eight students from the AGBU Manoogian-Demirjian School decided to enhance their visit to Armenia by gaining professional work experience. These interns were hosted by the Civilitas Foundation, Tumo Center for Creative Technologies, VivaCell-MTS mobile operator and Orran Charity Foundation.
