RA PRIME MINISTER HOVIK ABRAHAMYAN RECEIVED AGBU PRESIDENT BERGE SETRAKIAN

On July 1, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan received President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU) Berge Setrakian and AGBU Central Board Member Vasken Yacoubian. The head of the government praised the Union’s mission aimed at facilitating the development of Armenian people’s spiritual, educational and cultural potential and expressed readiness to support any initiative or program implemented by AGBU in Armenia and the Diaspora to preserve the Armenian identity and fortify Homeland. AGBU President Berge Setrakian mentioned that the programs carried out by AGBU seek to strengthen ties with the Motherland and meet the challenges faced by the Diaspora. The parties went on to discuss AGBU’s assistance in different areas, as well as future activities. Hovik Abrahamyan and Berge Setrakian exchanged views on mobilizing the Diaspora around pan-national goals, promoting the Armenian identity, developing the educational system and a number of other issues.
