PROJECTS IN KARABAKH

NORK, ARAPKIR AND MALATYA CHILDREN’S CENTERS

In February 1993, AGBU and the Holy See of Etchmiadzin joined forces to establish three Children's Centers in Yerevan. These Centers provide art, computer, crafts, dance, gymnastics, history, language and music programs to local children after regular school hours and during the summer. All three Centers also house a chapel and host weekly church services and Bible studies.

HOLY ETCHMIADZIN

AGBU's partnership with the Holy See of Etchmiadzin ensures that our common Armenian spiritual heritage survives for future generations. The construction of the largest Armenian church in the world, St. Gregory the Illuminator in Yerevan, was financed by AGBU donors. AGBU donors have also funded the following projects: renovation of the Holy Etchmiadzin Cathedral, construction of Erebuni, Holy Trinity, St. Anna and St. Sarkis churches in Yerevan; St. Hagop Church in Gyumri..

ARMENIAN PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA (APO)

Recognizing the importance of the performing arts, AGBU has supported the 110-member Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra (APO) since 1992. Annual grants are allocated for weekly concerts, new instruments, administrative costs, salary supplements, international guest artist appearances and special festivals.

ULTRASOUND CENTER

In 1996, the Jefferson Ultrasound Research and Education Institute and AGBU, under the direction of AGBU Central Board Member, Dr. Levon Nazarian, Professor of Radiology at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, USA, established ultrasound departments serving thousands of patients at the Oncology and Erebuni hospitals. Four years later, AGBU and Jefferson opened a new ultrasound training center at the Yerevan State Medical University.
